Wheat Wine Ale
Wheat Wine Ale
Wheat Wine Ale
A somewhat recently developed style in the American strong ale family, Wheat Wine shares a lineage with Barley Wine in strength, but is brewed with a large portion of wheat malt in its grain bill. This addition imparts a soft, honey-like mouthfeel to the beer typical of other wheat styles.
Aroma
- The aroma is very malty with some citrus, caramel, and small amounts of fruity alcoholic esters present.
Appearance
- light amber in color, the head will dissipate readily leaving little to no lacing. There is also some chill haze present due to the use of 400lbs of white wheat.
Taste
- The wheat wine is quite malty with fruity notes of apple, pear and grapefruit from the house yeast. The beer appears sweet at first but finishes quite dry. Although it is not as highly hopped as it's cousin barley wine it is still a great showcase of resinous american hops.
Overall
- A true winter warmer at
10.75 % abv,
this beer goes down suprisingly smooth and warms you to the core.
Enjoy, but beware, the 10.75 % will creep up on you!
Scotch Ale
Wee Hefty
Scotch Ale
Bell Tartan
Infused with oak and fine Scotch Whisky
The Scotch Ale pours burned copper orange with a rich off-white head.
Due to the increased alcohol content the head dissipates readily, while slightly sweet aromas of caramel & prunes waft to the nose along with even more subtle notes of toasted oak and bacon-like smokiness.
In taste, the smoke and oak are anything but subtle, while the hops are not pronounced on the palate. This malt forward beer with a slightly sweet BBQ flavor rekindles memories of nights spent sipping a fine single malt Scotch, in front of a hearty hearth.
The beer appears to finish more dry than it actually is due to the use of crystal rye. Pleasant to drink with good freinds on cold nights, the Bells We Hefty promises to be a winter tide staple.
Paradox
This "session ale" (classically under 4.5% ABV) offers up a unique flavor profile abundant in both hop bitterness and malty deliciousness. Beer is classically crafted as malt forward, hop forward, or balanced gracefully. Our brewers chose to throw that graceful balanced stuff out of the window with this ale, and push the limits of their creativity. Hence the Paradox Ale was born.
Both aggressively bitter and malty all at once. Magic makes this possible, dark gypsy magic.
Paradox Ale.
Appearance:
Pouring a hazy yellow straw color, this 30% wheat beer develops a white head with fine carbonation
Aroma:
Tropical fruit dominates the aroma of this brew, citrus from the late kettle additions of cascade hops, and apricot from the 126 pounds of fruit added to this beer.
Flavor:
A dry yet light malt body gives way to a pleasant citrus hops melded together with a subtle yet noticeable apricot fruity finish.
Mouth feel:
Although this beer is highly carbonated it has a somewhat medium presence on the palate due to the use of wheat and the plethora of unfermentable sugars in the apricots that were added to fermentation.
Overall:
This is a great beer for summer time. Quite refreshing with a high level of "drinkability" the Jah-pricot will please the Sunday drinker as well as the beer connoisseur.
